Five reasons to go to a baby yoga class .....

There are many reasons why it’s good to go along to a baby yoga or mobile baby yoga class but these are my top five:

  1. It’s a really lovely way to develop your baby’s emotional connection with you. Your baby loves to spend time with you, they love to be held and yoga provides this in abundance.

  2. Yoga practice is good for your baby’s digestion. Your baby’s digestive system is still maturing and the movements involved in yoga can help to relieve wind thus enabling your baby to feel much better and less fussy.

  3. It’s fun - your baby loves interacting with you. Using a combination of yoga movements, touch, communication and song, yoga is a lovely way to interact together..

  4. It helps with your baby’s physical and cognitive development and body awareness. Yoga moves help with flexibility - leg movements that open up your baby’s hips, arm strengthening and, by being aware of how your baby is able to move, you enable them to develop positive body awareness.

  5. It enhances your baby’s cognitive development. The cross body and inversion movements help to connect the two hemispheres of the brain and helps them to communicate better.

What are the benefits for you? It’s a great way to get out and meet other parents. You also get the opportunity to do some gentle yoga exercises to develop your own core and pelvic floor strength. There is a difference between mum and baby yoga classes and baby yoga classes. The emphasis in my classes is on your baby. You don’t have to be practicing yoga to come to a baby or mobile baby yoga class or be super fit and flexible. We do a little yoga for you, the parent in order to help to develop your flexibility and strength but my classes are mainly all about the babies.
