Every stage in your baby's life is temporary .....

When teaching baby massage and baby reflexology, I talk about how each stage in your baby’s life is just that - a stage - and it’s temporary. It's very hard to remember this when you're the mum of a new born and you’re feeling ragged because you haven’t slept properly in days/weeks/months but it is worth keeping this thought in your mind.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Your baby won't always want to feed every two hours, and only sleep for a few hours at a time. It won't be long before they can see you clearly and will enjoy spending time with you, playing with you, talking to you, laughing with you.

It’s amazing how you start off counting your baby’s life in days, then weeks, then months, then years and then you aren’t quite so precise with their age. You’ll look at your baby when they are around six-eight weeks old and you’ll marvel at all the changes - the way they look, the amount of hair they have compared to when they were born, the way they smile at you and you’ll already be feeling nostalgic for those new-born days!

Then your baby will start sitting up and rolling over, then crawling, then walking, then running. They’ll be off the breast or the bottle and be eating solids. Some will sleep through the night, others won’t. They’ll have their first birthday and will no longer be a baby, they’ll be a toddler, then a child!

And you’ll miss each stage - no matter how hard it is when you’re going through it, you will miss the new born, the baby that isn’t yet crawling, or the baby that isn’t yet walking and then you’ll miss their baby-ness!

But how awesome will that be? To be able to chat with your baby, to play with your baby, to sing and laugh with your baby as they develop. Time passes incredibly quickly so take some time to enjoy each stage of your baby’s life. It is easy to say and not so easy to do at 3am when you’re cold and tired and having to feed and change baby. Trust me, this initial phase will pass - there is light at the end of the tunnel so try to enjoy it all (or at least some of it)! ⠀
