Hypnobirthing and rainy days!

What has hypnobirthing got to do with rainy days? The quote, “When life throws you a rainy day, play in the puddles” is by AA Milne. Essentially, it means that we should make the best of what we’ve got even when it wasn’t something that was planned for. It’s about looking at life through a glass half full and being positive about what you’ve got and how you can still remain positive, even if life throws you a curveball!

During hypnobirthing, I teach my clients that there is no such thing as a perfect birth but that they can have the best birth under whatever circumstances present. They go away armed with knowledge about the birth process and have been taught how to use visualisations, anchors and affirmations, along with breathing and relaxation. They can accept whatever changes their birth may bring as they know that they can be pro-active about their birth - this isn’t something being done to them, they are active participants in the whole process.

They are advised to practice, practice, practice! If you’re the kind of person who finds it hard to look on the bright side of life, you may also need to practice. The more you do it, the easier changing your mindset becomes.

So take that rainy day, - turn it into something extraordinary! You can turn it around and find a positive from the experience!
